The club began in 2010, started by Gerry Puttock after being approached by parents in the local area who wanted their children to receive some supplementary support to their daily education. The Learning Club was born with eight children attending the first session.
Since then it has grown to 3 sessions a week, with a fourth planned within the month, and over 450 children having registered over the life of the Club.
The sessions are and always have been delivered by a dedicated team volunteers who give their time each week to help the children. They come from a diverse background of people, many looking for teaching experience and those who just want to get involved with the local community.
We believe that TLC offers a valuable contribution to the education of the young people who attend our club and we feel that it has never been in a better position. We have a large and regular group of children attending each week and a waiting list is in place. A great team of over 40 volunteers working at the sessions and in the office to help give them the best start to their academic life.
