We are approaching the end of the summer during which we have taken our first steps into running summer break sessions for the children of The Learning Club. For the past few weeks we have been running sessions 3 times a week in reading and maths to help local children maintain and hopefully increase their ability in these areas, and avoid “summer learning loss” where children can actually regress in skills during the absence from school during this period. The sessions have been well attended by children and volunteers alike and we have been delighted with the success and will be looking at continuing such activities during future school breaks.
ACE Cardiff is always looking to improve what we do and provide as much as support as we are able to children from the local area in an attempt to help them thrive in their academic lives. Alongside this is our ESOL project where we strive to help non-English speakers to develop their ability in the language and enhance their daily life experience as a result. This is of course an ongoing project and will be constantly evolving as we seek to achieve these aims.
A New Look
As part of these ongoing efforts we’ve decided to spruce up our image a little in the form of a brand new logo. The old one has served us well but it was time for a more polished look. We were very lucky to be provided with a new one by a very kind friend of ACE:
We are very excited by this new look and what it represents for the future of ACE Cardiff. We are looking forward to the start of the new term and further into the future where we hope to continue supporting the education of people in Cardiff (and perhaps, in the not too distant future, beyond!).
